Kirky Lane; where is that? Well, it's north of Ringwood and south of Glasgow and while fictional in railway terms, it does exist in another form, being better known in the speedway world as Kirkmanshulme Lane, the home of the Manchester Belle Vue Aces Speedway Team.
It is a modern image layout varying from the BT blue period to almost the present time. Kirky Lane is a terminus station with a variety of trains from DMUs, loco hauled passenger trains and a small variety of freight trains.
The station provides access to the engine shed and freight sidings; on the engine shed is a small fuelling point and an overhead gantry crane. Access to the freight sidings is via the loop in front of the loco shed which is a Pikestuff kit from Modern structures in Miniature. The shed has two roads for stabling four locos and a third road for the fuelling area which can hold two locos.
